Child portraits in art history

Back in the day, I studied art history.  Now I create portraits of children and families.  You can probably understand my excitement after stumbling upon this blog:  http://iamachild.wordpress.com/

Some things never change:
"I'll give you this cookie if you'll sit still, cooperate, and look at the artist over there trying to do his job..."

Father and daughter portraits...

Mother and child portraits...

"Oh, I've got a novel idea.  Let's go outside, and I'll run around with Junior on my back while you paint really fast."... (A.k.a today as "Lifestyle Portraits".)

Try as he might, the painter could not get all three siblings to look straight ahead, stop fidgeting, and give pleasant expressions.  To his relief, the mother loved the natural moment captured.

 Sleeping newborn portraits...

Running through a grassy field, outdoor family portraits..
